Welcome to the world of Doc Bee, MD

Who is Doc Bee and what is this all about?!

Welcome to my BeeHiiv! My name is Brooke, but you can call me Doc Bee. I graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine (UAG) in June of 2024. It was one of the best times in my life and a time I never thought I would reach. BUT with hard work, resilience and persistence, I MADE IT!!!!

I had a child while in my second year of med school, which was also during COVID. I know, crazy right? This ended up being an awesome experience with my labor starting about 12 hours after my last final of the semester. It took around 56 hours of labor to get my son earth side. That’s a story for another post.

I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I played lots of sports, instruments, I danced and I sang. After high school graduation, I went to the prestigious Spelman College and it was an amazing experience. With finances being an issue, I ultimately ended up receiving my bachelors degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Long story short, I moved across the country to Phoenix, Arizona in 2017. I got married, I took the MCAT and I started applying to medical schools. It was a crazy process with a lot of paperwork to complete, kind of like the longest job application EVER! Anywho, I got into and decided to matriculate at UAG. The rest is history.

So, now that you know a bit about me, let me tell you my goals for this page. I plan to provide information for how to get into the medical field, like what you can do in high school, college and even after college to become a better medical school candidate. I also want to make myself available to answer questions for those interested in this journey or already on this journey that need additional guidance, a mentor if you would. I would love to share cool things related to medicine. I love true crime, so sharing stories where true crime and medicine intersect. I will share interesting events in the medical world, both past and present. Lastly, because I am still in the process of getting into residency, I will share what is going on with this process, in real time, as I experience it.

If any of this sounds interesting & exciting to you, then subscribe to my newsletter and let’s get chatting. Our first stop, medicine and Black History!!

Love, light and Healing!
